Douglas School District Continues Commitment to Excellence with Adaptive Schools Training

Box Elder, SD—The Douglas School District is thrilled to announce the start of its second session of Adaptive Schools training this summer, scheduled from Monday, July 22, to Thursday, July 25. The goal of the Adaptive Schools training is to foster a collaborative culture, improve communication, and develop leadership skills among staff. These efforts are crucial to advancing the district's mission of providing high-quality education and support to its students.

During the four-day Adaptive Schools Foundation Seminar, participants will:

  • Enhance their ability to initiate, develop, and maintain high-functioning groups
  • Gain new perspectives on diagnosing the stages and phases of group development
  • Expand their collection of practical facilitation tools
  • Understand when and how to engage groups in dialogue and discussion, the limitations, forms, and values of each
  • Acquire skills to move groups beyond consensus to a common focus
  • Learn to appreciate and utilize dissension, argument, and conflict
  • Utilize strategies to keep group members on track, on topic, energized, and resourceful

Superintendent Kevin Case highlighted the significant impact of the training, stating, "This program has been instrumental in aligning our staff with the district's vision and goals. We have seen tremendous benefits in collaboration and effectiveness, with over 250 employees having completed the training so far."

With 67 employees enrolled in the current session, the district demonstrates its ongoing commitment to professional development and systemic improvement.  Ellie Martinez of Leadership Matters LLC, Executive Coach, and Consultant, expressed, "The learning in the system is Superintendent Case's vision and aligns with his identity as a collaborative, inquirer, and leader. The Strategic Direction represents an explicit commitment to the Douglas community. His unwavering focus on growth that impacts staff and students is unique and inspiring."

By investing in this comprehensive training, the Douglas School District ensures its educators have the tools to create a thriving learning environment. The district looks forward to the continued growth and success that this program will bring.
