In compliance with your telegram of this date, I enclose herewith official copy of letter from the Adjutant General's Office, dated May 11, 1874, (*1)to the Commanding General, Military Division of the Missouri, copy of telegram from the Adjutant General's Office June 5, 1874 (*2) to General Sheridan, and copy of Special Order, No. 117, Department of Dakota, dated June 8, 1874, (*3)under which General Custer's expedition to the Black Hills Country was made in 1874.
