White Eagle School
Hazel Hill believes the White Eagle District was organized in the late 1800's.  One year she was the only child in the district attending the school.  Two other children from the Johnson school were allowed to come to White Eagle, so she wouldn't be the only child in school.   Her parents boarded the teacher, who came out on Sunday night and stayed until Friday.
In about 1937,  when Mrs. Hill's oldest daughter was in first or second grade, there were so many children they had to build a second room  to accomodate all the children and hire two teachers.  The district was split by county and part was given to Rapid City, and the balance became part of the Douglas district on July 1, 1968.
