Heavlin School
1887



The Heavlin School District was organized in 1887 and held classes continuously until 1948.  From 1948 to 1952, one lone pupil was transported to the Caputa school for four years.  In 1952 enough children moved into the district ot reopen the school.  At that time the name of the district was changed from Lone Tree #27 to Heavlin #27 to distinguish it from Lone Tree #25.
Heavlin became a part of the Douglas District on July 1, 1968.  Several years, when the building failed to be of further use, the Douglas administration decided to have it demolished.
Some of the Heavlin Board Members: Arnold Heavlin, Irene Bush, Harry Marsh, Sherman Crowley, Walter Taylor, Dick Taylor, Lee Myers, Paul Stromer.
Some of the teachers of Heavlin school:  Mary Jane Cordwell, Alma McNally, Stacia Kornmann, Wilma Thomas, Mrs. McInerney, Mary Ann Petrik, Louise Young.
