The sun was shinning, and clouds were gently floating across the sky. It was a wonderful backdrop for our Flag Project. Four hundred and seventy students and approximately fifty staff members began gathering at 12:30 PM in Douglas Patriot Stadium. A short time later, a South Dakota National Guard helicopter with flight crew and Public Affairs personnel were hovering low in the sky above the field. Excited children took their seats and displayed their colored papers proudly for a perfect picture. Badger Clark students work on patriotic themes throughout the school year which include good citizenship, American Principles and American History. Our students also participated in the “Pledge Across America” which was a synchronized recitation of the Pledge Of Allegiance unifying our nation’s youth, on September 17, 2002. Our flag was designed to honor the victims and families of the September 11, 2001 tragedies and celebrate our country's service men and women stationed around the world. View the Quicktime video above to see and hear what our local NBC affiliate, KNBN had to say about our flag. |
