Douglas Transportation

We are part of the Early Riser Team. Pete is usually at work by 6:00 AM every morning, followed by the longer route Bus Drivers and the Head Mechanic. We have 27 Buses and 17 other school vehicles that we keep running and going in the correct direction, at the correct time, we hope!

Inclement Weather

Announcements will be make by 6:30 AM or the previous evening when possible. You might check on line at the following web site to see if school will be closed.

The decision to call of school is sometimes a judgement call based upon the best available information. Road and weather conditions may vary throughtout the district. If a parent thinks their child is at risk because of severe road or weather conditions, then the parent should not send the student to school. The student will be given an excused absence and allowed to make up missed school work. Please notify the school of the decision. If road conditions on one bus route or in one area are bad, school may still be held, but buses will run only where possible.

Early Dismissal

If school needs to be called off after school has started, radio and television stations will be notified about one hour ahead of dismissal time, if possible, so that parents can react to their children getting home early.

Make Your Plan Now! ! !

Parents who have younger children and who may not be home if an early dismissal occurs are encouraged to make arrangements ahead of time for how these children are to be taken care of. Please be sure your child is not locked out of your house if early dismissal occurs. Develop a plan and be sure your child knows what to do.
